Reflection
Being involved in a simulated town hall meeting was an interesting experience, overall It was a super fun experience but I got a little overwhelmed when there was one person yelling and it made the conversation a little hard to follow. The major points brought up by the loyalist were that they needed to tax the colonies more because they were trying to rebuild their country after being destroyed from the war. On the other side of that the Patriots were fighting for the fact that they were getting taxed higher than the people who lived in Britain. They also were using the argument that the people who owned land in the colonies should join the patriots because they would not be paying as high of taxes if they joined the loyalists. Also they would not have to give up any of their land. The argument that I found most convincing was the Colonist when they were trying to convince the neutral members to join them and they said they could keep their land without playing very high taxes. I think so many colonist were neutral because they did not want to get sucked into the drama of picking a side, but at the same time both side appealed to them. The most important thing I learned was that you needed to be ready for any question but also you need to have fast answers or the other side will fight back.
